Calvin Anderson. Theatrical Designer. (he/them pronouns)
Calvin Anderson is a lighting and projection designer based in Brooklyn, New York. They have designed and toured internationally with many forms of entertainment; dance, theater, opera, musical theater, fashion, and live music. Some favorite works in New York have been seen at Brooklyn Academy of Music, HERE Arts, The Joyce, NYLA, Judson Church, Park Avenue Armory, Symphony Space, and others.
Select international projects include working with Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Toronto Fringe Festival, Spoleto Festival USA, Jacob’s Pillow, Chester Theatre, Connecticut Repertory Theatre, City Theater (Pittsburgh), The Pittsburgh Playhouse, and Perseverance Theatre (Alaska). International tours have taken Calvin to South America, Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Middle East.
Calvin is currently a visiting assistant professor at Wesleyan University. They have also given talks about lighting and projections to numerous academic institutions, globally. Calvin is also resident lighting and projections designer and production manager for FJK Dance.
Calvin holds an MFA for lighting and projection design from the University of Connecticut, and a BFA from Point Park University. They are a proud member of Wingspace Design Collective and United Scenic Artists Local 829.
